A Buzzard, A Bat, And A Bee

If you put a buzzard in a pen six or eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of his ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of ten or twelve feet. Without space to run, as is his habit, he will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

A bumblebee if dropped into an open tumbler will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.

In many ways, there are lots of people like the buzzard, the bat, and the bee. They are struggling about with all their problems and frustrations, not realizing that the answer is right there “Above” them.

We should never allow ourselves to be burdened with the troubles that come our way, but rather we should seek the Lord and ask for His direction and guidance and lift the burden that is trying to bring us down.

The Bible declares in Jeremiah 29:11-14 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall pray unto Me, and I will hear you. And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, says the LORD.'

Always remember that God loves you and wishes for you to be completely whole not lacking any good thing. Call upon Him always and share with God all that is on your heart. (John 16:23-24)

Romans 8:31-34 'What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifies. Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.'

Matthew 11:28-30 'Jesus declares “Come unto Me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.'

Psalm 147:3-5 'He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. He tells the number of the stars; He calls them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.'
